AGNEW Treasured memories of HARRY, died 27th December, 2002.-Sadie.
Report this message By Shirley Layfield on 20th Nov 2011Once more it is getting close to christmas and once more it is a time of year I have mixed feelings about
I lost both of my parents around christmas time, Mum (26th December 1976) and Dad (27th December 2002)
I also find myself thinking about others who may have lost loved ones at this time of year, it's never easy to lose a loved one at any time, but it seems to be harder at christmas time when everyone else seems to be so happy
I used to find christmas quite a difficult time until I decided to use it as a time to remember all the good times with Mum and Dad and all our other loved ones who have passed away
If you too have recently lost a loved one I am sorry for your loss and I hope that it also helps you to remember all the good times and on christmas day to raise a glass to toast your loved ones memories
When christmas comes I wish for it to be merry and for your new year to be happy, remember your loved ones loved you and would want you to be happy!
Best wishes to you all,
Shirley
Report this message By Shirley Layfield on 30th Oct 2011Dearest Mum & Dad,
It will soon be Dia de los Muertos, day of the dead. It is a day when people around the world take time to remember fondly loved ones they have lost.
We will remember you both at this special time, all the good times spent with you and just how special you both really were.
There is not a day goes by when you are not missed. I just love chatting to the family about you, it helps to keep you close. You were right Dad talking about a lost loved one does help a lot, I just wish I could have worked that one out sooner when we lost Mum, better later than never I suppose!
Lots of Love to you both,
Shirley

Report this message By Shirley Layfield on 23rd Jul 2011Dear Dad, one of my fondest memories of you is of when there was a family party and you used to sing your favourite song, Danny Boy. I'm sure i'm not the only one in the family who would give anything to hear you sing this beautiful song just one more time!
Love to you always,
Shirley xx
Danny Boy
Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be
For you will bend and tell me that you love me
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.
And I shall rest in peace until you come to me.
Oh, Danny Boy, Oh, Danny Boy, I love you so.
Report this message By Shirley Layfield on 16th Jul 2011Dear Mum,
When i think of you as i always do i often think about the night you went with Dad to a dance organised by his office
You asked me what you should wear and when i suggested your long purple dress, you said you weren't sure that any of the other ladies would be wearing long dresses, but i managed to persuade you that it would be a good idea and helped you to pick out some earings and a necklace to match your outfit
Every time i think of that night i remember telling you how nice you looked, but i always wish i had told you how proud it made me feel knowing that you were my Mum. You looked so pretty
I was so pleased the next day when you told me that you had a lovely time at the dance and that you were glad you had worn your long dress as some of the other ladies had also worn theirs
There were so many times that you were ill it was lovely to see you getting dressed up and going out to have some fun. You deserved it so much. You and dad too!
Love to you always,
Shirley

Report this message By Shirley Layfield on 31st Mar 2011Your Mother Is Always With You
Your mother is always with you...She's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street. She's the smell of bleachin your freshly laundered socks. She's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your mother lives inside your laughter. She's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home...She's the map you follow with every step that you take. She's your first love and your first heart break...and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, Not space...Not even death...will ever separate you from your mother...You carry her inside of you...
