MATTHEW Oliver James
1991 – 2010
Our beloved Son and Brother Oliver James
finally found peace on 13th March 2010,
after a brief but valiant battle against cancer.
Born on 12th June 1991 at Solihull Hospital.
Oliver was educated at Greswolde Primary
School until he emigrated to Vancouver, Canada with his family in 1999.
He graduated from Kerrisdale Elementary
School in 2004 and from Point Grey Secondary School in 2009.
Oliver gained many academic and sporting
awards during his school years.
He commenced his studies at Sauder Business School, University of British Columbia, in September 2009. Oliver withdrew from UBC after being diagnosed with leukaemia in mid-October 2009.
An accomplished sportsman, Oliver especially enjoyed team soccer from the age of five. Oliver played a pivotal role as a mid-fielder with his soccer team the Vancouver Selects. Oliver’s team won the B.C. Youth Select soccer league in 2008 and 2009.
He played with his team in the Youth National under 18 soccer championships in 2008.
Oliver was an inspiring and loyal friend to many people. Oliver lived life to the full; he loved to travel and had many ambitions he would have wished to accomplish. Oliver is survived by his adoring
parents, Ian and Mandy, and his devoted
younger brothers, Sam and Elliot.
The fond and cherished memories of Oliver’s full but brief life will help his family to cope with their loss.
